March Madness ---- has arrived

All the "ladies" have their yarn on sale ---
Debbie Bliss, Ella Rae, Lorna's Laces, Elsebeth Lavold, Louisa Harding --- with the exception of Debbie Bliss's new eco baby yarn which has just arrived. All the ladies are "mad" and their books and yarns will be 25% off for the month of March.

There is a great selection of wools and cottons from these fantastic designers -- and pattern books galore. It's the perfect time to come and get a project for the spring or start now and you will be finished by the time that cold weather comes around again.

The Wednesday group is having fun knitting Chris Bylsma's drop stitch sweater. You can always join the fun or get a group together and pick a project of your own. It really makes you stay on track when others are knitting along with you. Faye was definitely ahead of this group, but Liz and I managed to catch up so we could divide for the neck together this week. It's a great way to finish a project and have others help when you get stumped.

The firefly scarf knitalong begins Thursday, March 4th. The list of participants continues to grow so it looks like this might be a great competition. You must sign up by the 4th and complete the scarf by the first of May. We will take pictures on May 6th of everyone in their "finished scarf." Classic Elite will furnish a gift basket worth $200 and everyone who has finished can put their name in the basket for the drawing. Come join the fun.

"Save the Date" - May 15th, 2010

Beth Parrott is going to teach again!

Finishing techniques and Fixing Mistakes -- a whole day to devote to those things you keep asking for so mark your calendar now.

Mary Jane has several suggestions for classes that she would like to teach. This month she is teaching how to crochet flowers. You don't need to know how to crochet before you come - so this is a great opportunity for knitters to learn basic crochet stitches and create a flower to add to a scarf, hat, or sweater. Flowers are everywhere in the fashion world this season. The class will last an hour and a half and cost $35 for instruction. Bring scrap yarns, crochet hooks (if you have them) and your tapestry needle. Great creative fun.
Class on Tuesday, March 16th from 2 until 3:30. Please call ahead. If the class appeals to you and the day/time doesn't work then let us know what you need and we will try to make it work.
Mary Jane has also brought in some mini-pillows for a future offering so come see her designs and let us know what works best for you.

The number of individual classes has increased and it seems to work well when you have a project that you want help completing (or starting). The cost is $20 per hour and we try to schedule when it suits you best. Please continue to call and set up these sessions.

And as always beginner classes on Thursday at 5:00. You will learn to cast on and knit in about an hour. Beginner 102 is learning how to purl and bind off. Each class is $20 for the cost of instruction. Please call ahead so we can be sure to have some one to help you.

KNIT is sponsoring a contest and the prize is a gift certificate from ---- KNIT.

We haven't received any "entries" for our contest and we know that those finished projects and treasures exist so bring them down for us to "show and tell!"

Judges will be selected to vote for these entries and determine who receives the gift prizes. It's time to show off your masterpieces and our customers will appreciate the hard work you have invested in your knitting. We'll plan an "event" for the prize awarding ceremony. We at KNIT want to see what you did with the yarn after you bought it from us.
